Bradford Pear
Always the last ones to get color
but the most vibrant I believe
so many shades of red
from light crimson
to dark merlot
just starting on it's journey
it will take most of November
to reach it's full splendor
I wait

Beautiful Coleen. Loved the poem as well. Our Bradfords are still green. :)
Oh, wow this is a beautiful macro. I've always been wanting to try to shoot leaves. Beautiful colors too.
its like you are watching the leaf turn red..very nice.
Fantastic colors, light and focus. Very nice job.
Those pears are exciting when it comes to changing leaf color! You've captured it nicely!
Very pretty! I have one of those too.
Great shot, very vieny..:-))
fantastic light in this photo, stunning composition
Gorgeous photo, Colleen! We used to live on a street in SC lined in Bradford Pear trees. They were huge! And every spring would bloom and my sons would call them 'popcorn trees' because that's just what they looked like.
Sadly, one year we had a terrible ice storm and in the middle of the night we listened in horror to what sounded like a machine gun battle on our street. When we woke up and walked outside, every single Bradford Pear Tree(at least 30) had split right in the center (like a banana) and all of the thin branches and snapped and spread all around the trunks like skirts.
I understand the Bradford Pear is very weak and susceptible to ice damage. But they sure are pretty. My kids still talk about those fluffy popcorn trees....
