I figured I'd get there early, it's a two hour plus drive from my home, and see if I could get some wildlife shots in the early morning. Apparently I was not the only person who thought that. I pulled up at 7:45 and there was a line of cars waiting to get in. After a quick stop at the restroom, two coffees does not help on a long drive) I was on my way. I went around the first corner and there were about 20 people with tripods out in the field...I really should have taken a picture of it. It takes about 2 hours to do the loop road, it took me closer to 4 I think, and I took a couple hundred photos. As many of you know you take alot to get a few. Here are a couple. If you want to see a few more just click on a picture and it will take you to my Flickr Photostream.

What a beautiful place! Sounds like you had a great day.
Great shots, I opted out for Cades Cove this trip home, the traffic on the weekends is a bummer. You should take another trip in the spring when the bears are out..:-))
Wow - great deer shot! Beautiful colors!
Colleen, oh my gosh these shots are wonderful.. the mill is so cool..and the deer shot is wonderful.. great fall shots!
Wow! You were so close to the deer....and you captured it perfectly. The lighting is beautiful.
That old grist mill could use a new roof. I would have loved to have bought a bag of the ground cornmeal. What a treat!
Sure wish I could have joined you. It's great to be able to just photograph anything you that catches your eye for as long as you like without the kidlets (or others who don't enjoy photography as much) complaining or whining. :)
